Our first book AFROSURF has sold more than 17,000 copies globally, has been critically acclaimed and influenced global surf culture.
The aim of AFROSPORT is to shine a fresh light on Africa's history and future global influence through the intersecting lenses of sport, photography, design, and culture.
If you are interested in Africa, Sport, Design, Culture, Photography, Graphics and opening up your brain with exceptional writing and story-telling then you might want a copy.
Like AFROSURF, it has been created by renowned creative director Peet Pienaar. It contains the work of some incredible contributors - 25 writers, 30 photographers - and features 32 sports, 130 photos and more than 100 all original new graphics. All pulled together by a team working across the continent and beyond.
With a foiled hard cover, it is 320 pages and weighs 1.7kg.

AFROSPORT is being printed and shipped from the UK. Due to Brexit complexities any additional taxes, import duties or government charges are the responsibility of the customer. Mami Wata will not be liable for any additional fees.

AFROSPORT the book weighs approximately 1.7kg, and will be delivered in a protective book sleeve.

Local shipping for the book is R250. We offer free shipping on orders over R1 500.
UK
R150 delivery fee will be applied per book for delivery within the UK (approximately £7)
Please note, if there are other items in your shopping cart they will ship from South Africa (the book ships from within the UK) and additional standard shipping fees will be applied at checkout.

Standard shipping fees apply. We offer free shipping on orders over $120.

WHEN WILL I RECEIVE MY DELIVERY?
AFROSPORT is being printed and shipped from the UK.
SA & USA: Delivery will take place at the end of January 2024.
UK: Delivery will start in December 2023.
WILL I RECEIVE MY PRE-ORDER BY CHRISTMAS?
SA & USA: Unfortunately not. Delivery will take place at the end of January 2024.
UK: In order to receive your book by the 24 December, all pre-orders need to be made by midnight 12 December 2023.
CAN I EXCHANGE / RETURN AFROSPORT?
We do not offer returns or exchanges on AFROSPORT.

WHAT IS THE “LIMITED EDITION AFROSPORT COLLECTIBLE?”
We’ve collaborated with Cent, a NFT publishing studio to create a limited release digital collectible of the cover art. Upon checkout, on the Mami Wata website “thank you” page, you will be able to ‘collect’ your limited edition AFROSPORT collectible via the Cent platform.
You do not need to be an existing CENT platform user or an account holder in order to ‘collect’ your limited edition AFROSPORT collectible.
There are no additional charges.
I AM AN AFROSPORT KICKSTARTER BACKER, DO I NEED TO DO ANYTHING?
No you do not. All AFROSPORT backers will be prioritized when the book is available for shipping. Your AFROSPORT book and reward(s) will be delivered together. Please keep an eye on your Kickstarter inbox for AFROSPORT updates.
